Troy. I happened to come across your write-up about my dad the other day. I want to thank you for writing such kind words about dad and my family. You wrote that out of the goodness of your heart and not for recognition?. but here you go anyway?..You have, and always will hold a special place in our families? hearts. Your words brought comfort, peace, and happy tears of joy to our family. You are right, those training runs were legendary. They existed because of you. It seems like last year we were heading down the Fox River trail in the darkness of January with 10-15 people. Most of us did not wear enough to stay warm and some of those runs seemed more like races. However, that is where the real improvement was made for most of us. Because of your dedication to ACC Cross Country and Track, boys and girls have been made into young men and women, tremendous athletes have been uncovered and flourished both in high school and the college level but more importantly they have flourished in life! Because of this program lifelong friendships have been formed and you have given everyone associated with the ACC Track and CC teams hope for the future and the confidence to take risks; not be afraid of failure and to be good people in life. Dad always admired your absolute dedication and desire to positively impact the lives of others around you. He mentioned this many times over the years. Thanks for sharing a piece of your heart for others to see by writing about dad. To the ACC Track and Cross Country program; if you closely read what Coach Kerber wrote about my father you will see a more important message. You will see the integrity, compassion, and wisdom of an excellent coach who cares deeply about people. Most of all you will see that you have a most special person leading your program in Coach Kerber and those coaches who work with him. If you listen to Coach Kerber and your other coaches and take their advice you will not only become very good athletes but tremendous people with high values. That will take you far in life! Keep running? and remember that when he tells you that you ran 5 miles on a training run it was probably more like 5.5 miles. Don?t worry? it will only make you better! Track season is almost upon you! Good luck! God Bless. Charlie Blackburn
