ACC CLOSES OUT A GREAT SEASON WITH CLASS!

The Charger CC Teams closed out their 09 season at the Belvidere Sectional which is considered the toughest 2A Sectional in the state. When you have 13 ranked Boys teams and 12 ranked Girls teams in the top 25 you have the recipe for 2 great races! Belvidere served as a mini-state meet for ACC!  Manuel Saucedo and Jimmy Spencer closed out their season's in style by both running races that would have qualified them out of the other 3 sectionals in the state! Saucedo narrowly missed state q by 8 seconds and Spencer defeated 11 runners who were in front of him at the ACC Regional the week before. The Lady Chargers placed 11th as a team but only missed qualifying by a combined 22 places against great competition. Anna Sestak stepped up again and posted a top 30 place out of 160 runners. Sestak was followed by steady Bailey Shemenski, Natalie Perry, Jenna Koerner, and Amanda Contreras. Their 1-5 split was 1:18, and at the Regional it was 30 seconds. CHARGERS HOLD THEIR GROUND AT FIRST EVER SUBURBAN CHRISTIAN CONFERENCE CROSS COUNTRY MEET

10/22/2009 -

This past Saturday, the Charger boys and girls teams both placed third at the inaugural Suburban Christian Conference Cross Country Championships! Since the Suburban Catholic Conference disbanded at the conclusion of the 2008-2009 school year, the new SCC, featured some unfamiliar foes. New additions to the conference include Guerin Prep, Chicago Christian, Aurora Christian, and Wheaton Academy. All of the original teams of the Suburban Catholic Conference are in the Suburban Christian Conference, with the exception of Drisoll which shut its doors due to financial troubles this spring.

After running great at Amboy only 5 days prior, the Charger teams came out strong, covering Oakhurst's familiar 3-mile course, and running some impressive times as the teams geared up for the imminent state series. Zack Young of Marmion was the race winner in 15:18, but Manny Saucedo was not far behind, leading the Chargers with a 4th place finish in 15:38. Accounting for a total of 78 team points, Saucedo was followed by Jimmy Spencer (14th in 16:03), Dan Kottkamp (17th in 16:14), and Matt Meyers (19th in 16:25). These studs have established themselves as all-time ACC cross country greats! Manny is currently 7th on the Boys' Honor Roll. Spencer is 26th, Kottkamp 31st, and Meyers 36th (12th on the Frosh/Soph Honor Roll). John Cisneros ran a great race as well, his 16:51 a mere 3 seconds shy of his PR performance at the Charger Classic earlier this year. Sophomore Alex Duncan (16:58) and senior Allen Maddock (17:18) rounded out the top 7. Allen matched his time run at the Charger Classic a few short weeks ago and Duncan's performance at that same race put him at 51st on ACC's All-time list. The team narrowly missed second place St. Francis (70 points) led by Sean Montague.

The girls also finished third with a team score of 80, a mere 5 points behind second place Montini. The Lady Chargers were led by Jenna Koerner who traversed the course in 19:03! She ranks behind only Valerie Cintron, Jamie Nagel, and Stacy Aloisio! All three of these ladies were multi-time state qualifiers during their time at ACC! She was followed by Bailey Shemenski (12th in 19:21), and Anna Sestak (14th in 19:31). Sestak ran a 19:05 earlier this season which ties her with Jenny Lindsay for 5th on the all-time list! Bailey is the 7th fastest Lady Charger to race 3 miles! Natalie Perry's 19:38 puts her at 10th on the all time list! Who knows what kind of times All-American Leah "Rocket" Rygh, Donna Cintron, and Anissa Mercado could have run if they were not racing 2.25 miles?! Regardless, these ladies have cemented themselves into ACC history with their excellent performances this year! Amanda Contreras, Corinn Groom, and Robyn Lee rounded out the top 7 for the Chargers. The 1-7 split was 67 seconds! 1-5 was 52 seconds. This pack is ready to do some damage in the State Series, begging with Regionals this weekend!

The toughest sectional in the history of our program awaits at Belvidere against the larger schools (enrollments of 790-1,720 students) We are looking forward to the challenge!"

Prior to Amboy, ACC teams ran well at the 12-team Wheaton Academy Invite with the Charger men headlining with a team title led by Saucedo, Spencer and company. ACC BOYS AND GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY TEAMS MAKE THE STATE RANKINGS!

9/29/2009 -

The Charger Cross Country teams will be ranked on a weekly basis for the remainder of the season using the following criterias:

 1. The evalution of their total team performances against teams in 1A and 2A. This will take into consideration the IHSA multiplier for non boundaried schools including ACC. Based on true enrollment, ACC is a 1A school. Based on the multiplier ACC is 2A. Evaluating performance level two ways will be beneficial from the standpoint that it truly attests and measures our current level of talent per size of our school versus schools ACC's size or even slightly larger in 1A.

2. The 2nd ranking for 2A is based on the IHSA ranking among teams that we compete against that are much larger with true enrollments of 1,720 students. So in other words we can have the best of both worlds. Realizing where we are with our peers (1A)  yet shooting to run at a higher level with (2A).

Here are this weeks rankings based on extensive research and time performance comparison and with a some help from Dyestat:

ACC BOYS ARE #3 IN 1A AND #20 IN 2A based on teams ranked by Dyestat that we have defeated thus far this season!

The LADY CHARGERS ARE #7 IN 1A AND #16 IN 2A again with the same criteria for rankings!

Saucedo and Spencer broke early from the field and then Manny made a break right before the mile split, ensuring victory and a new school record!
